Young Leaders at EBT's Humanities Fair |
We'd like to extend a huge congratulations to our partners at High School for Enterprise, Business & Technology in Bushwick, Brooklyn for their award-winning presentation, Guns in America. They won Third Place at the school's 2010 Humanities Fair last week. The presentation was thoroughly researched, creatively presented and the students spoke eloquently and passionately about the issue of guns in our country.
We're so grateful that these students are taking part in New Yorkers Against Gun Violence's annual lobby day next month in Albany. They are powerful advocates against gun violence, and they're informed about the bills they'll be speaking about to legislators. Hopefully our leadership will recognize their strength and influence and consider their requests.
The entire Humanities Fair was a remarkable experience. The students created brilliant cultural history presentations and performances drawing on historical art forms. From the Hinduism board game, Dharma Party, to the 80's popping routine, the students at EBT created a day of art and culture that rivals the best galleries in NYC! We can't wait for next year.

Humanities Fair Discusses Real Issues!
Looking around at many projects I found that the students are very concerned about issues in this country. I was able to actually speak with the people that put together this project. The project was presented with intelligence and discussed a topic many are hurt by but refuse to speak up about. Gun violence has gone on for a very long time. Now it has moved just passed the citizens and it is now the police officers. They are said to be afraid and so this is a way to retaliate. We must fight for what we feel is justice. Stop the gun violence. Thank you to this group for doing this project.
